National Truffle Day is May 2, and there’s no better way to celebrate than with chocolate in its most indulgent form.

Making truffles at home is simpler than it sounds—and the result is rich, smooth, and deeply satisfying. With just a few ingredients and the right chocolate, you can create something that feels both special and personal.

✨

Whether you’re making them for yourself or sharing with someone else, truffles are a small luxury worth taking the time for.

A Classic Chocolate Truffle

You’ll need:

  • 8 oz high-quality chocolate

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

  • Cocoa powder or toppings for finishing

How to make:

  1. Warm the cream until just steaming (not boiling).

  2. Pour over chopped chocolate and let sit for 2–3 minutes.

  3. Stir until smooth and glossy.

  4. Add vanilla if using.

  5. Chill for 1–2 hours until firm.

  6. Scoop and roll into small balls.

  7. Finish with cocoa powder, nuts, or coconut.

The chocolate you choose changes everything.

Want to make them your own? Start with one of these:

Salted Dark Chocolate - Deep and rich with a hint of salt—perfect rolled in cocoa powder or finished with flaky sea salt.

Grasshopper (Mint) Chocolate - Cool and refreshing—roll in crushed cookies or powdered sugar for a dessert-like finish.

Milk Chocolate with Toasted Coconut - Smooth with a subtle nuttiness—finish with shredded coconut for added texture and warmth.

Spicy Suya Chocolate - Bold and unexpected with a gentle heat—try a light dusting of cocoa or a pinch of chili for extra depth.

Kube Toffee Chocolate - Sweet and buttery with bits of toffee—adds a soft crunch and caramelized richness to every bite.

Dawadawa Chocolate - Deep, earthy, and complex—perfect for a more adventurous truffle with a subtle savory edge.
